The best neighbors we have are the citrus groves at the end of our street - just one house away from us. The groves belong to a local family who contracts the trees out to Sunkist. The trees are orange and grapefruit trees. The groves have irrigation ditches that run around and thru the paths. The neighborhood temperature is kept cooler by the acres of trees - in the springtime it feels 15 degrees cooler just walking by the fence.
Many different species of birds and wildlife can be found in the groves. This photo is of a quail, but someday I will remember to catch a roadrunner trotting down the path.
