Free

I think that I cannot preserve my health and spirits, unless I spend four hours a day at least - and it is commonly more than that - sauntering through the woods and over the hills and fields, absolutely free from all worldly engagements.  ~Henry David Thoreau

...over the hills...
...sauntering...
... free.

I definitely agree with Thoreau, although there are no fields to saunter in and Stumpy and I have yet to learn to deal with thorns and stickers, gracefully.

I know for sure, my piece of mind is in serious jeopardy with out it!

Lovely pictures, as always!

That last pic is quite beautiful....I love it when the weather plays around with the landscape a bit. We have more nasty stuff coming this week...sounds like some good photography times ahead:) A blizzard in the White Mountains and snow in Tucson is projected for Wednesday thru Friday....I'm a bit worried about several of the plants. I don't know if I have enough blankets for all of them:)

Lovely pictures... there are so many nice places to go that is free and has that kind of view in AZ. I like taking the scenery pictures.

Four hours is a long time to be away... but how nice!

Beautiful shots! I'm finding that I need my "outdoors" time, too! I'm in the Southern California desert near Palm Springs.

I so agree with him and that quote! Although I can rarely do that long of a saunter, I love whatever time I can spend doing just that with my camera. ha

and all of this beauty is a FREE gift from God and cost us nothing but the effort to spend time in it

I WISH I could get four hours a day out in the wilds of the forests and fields and other places unchanged by man. I did spend about five hours yesterday shoveling snow, though, so I'm thinking my outside time will be decidedly limited today.
