Our singing bird has returned.
Just open the back door and step out. You will hear his song.
His voice is clear and strong.
He is back.
Mary Oliver knows what I mean.
She penned these lines in the poem Such Singing in the Wild Branches :
Such soft and solemn and perfect music doesn't last
for more than a few moments.
It's one of those magical places wise people
like to talk about.
One of the things they say about it, that is true,
is that, once you've been there,
you're there forever.
... Quick, then - open the door and fly on your heavy feet; the song
may already be drifting away.

You share such great poetry!
Occasionally, a songbird gets lost and ends up in dirtville to cheer me up!
Stumpy is the queen of stinkeye!
Nice way to start the day...
Life is good!
Mary Oliver is a favorite of mine - in just a few words, she captures scene and spirit. Your sky is a cloudless blue there in AZ!
Sweet... check out our Hug-a-blogger blog and let us know if you would be interested.

I think you and Banjo should go in on this together. You both love birds and poetry. Especially when the two intersect.
Lov that beautiful blue sky! Sure wish I could hear that bird singing right now!
The first realization of Spring in Minnesota is like that. :-)

There is nothing quite so magical as the cheerful sound of birdsong.
Such a lovely blog on my first visit! Thank you for the peaceful words and the sweet song :)
Your singing bird looks so pretty against the blue sky. Love the poem too. :)
PasAdj- cool link! I will have to watch for this at reduced price. Where has Banjo gone? He has reduced me to nothing.
Thanks, all! It is a joy to know the poems have a home with photos- or maybe that the photos have a home with the poems.
this time of year, it seems all we hear are the crows and seagulls.
I miss the songbirds...
