Totallly OT, but this pictued reminded me of how I used to wonder and worry about geese ducks' feet in the cold and icy water back east. Turns out they don't have any nerve endings in their feet so they don't feel the cold icy water. Weired, huh?

You must have been up and out at the crack of dawn to get these.

I'm still amazed that this flora and fawna eist in the desert

Cyndi, I didn't know that about their feet. I wondered, too!
The Riparian Park is sure a paradise. It is part of the city's water reclamation project - waste water is sent here and the ponds act as settling/cleaning agents. And, the bonus is that the birds flock to the ponds, trees that grow along riverbeds do well here, and we all learn so much more! Whew, that was a disjointed sentence!

odd name for a park, i used to sell real estate here and when a house was in a sub division, we would say they had ripaian rights to the river and the dock. so does this means it is apublic lake? i do think the strangest things sometimes. i did not know about the cold feet thing either.

Yes, Sandra, it is a public site. 8 ponds in all, I think I remember correctly. Trails all around them. Birding sites set up, some even like 'duck blinds'. Benches along the ponds - benches donated in memory of someone, or in honor of someone...
Lots of volunteers help out here; and everyday there is a school bus or two with school 'field trips'. There are docents, etc., who do the 'public' work, as such.

Myrtiam, gracias! Me gusto su blog, especialmente sus fotographias!

Wonderful way to spend the morning. I love the first photo--it looks like the geese are having a coffee klatch.
