Winter

“Blow, blow, ye winds, with heavier gust!
And freeze, thou bitter-biting frost!
 - from A Winter Night by Robert Burns

 Ilk happing bird,—wee, helpless thing!
That, in the merry months o’ spring,
Delighted me to hear thee sing,
What comes o’ thee?

Our winter storm has arrived.
Almost two inches of rain yesterday afternoon.

Wind during the night. Snow possible this night.

Descend, ye chilly, smothering snows!
Not all your rage, as now united, shows
More hard unkindness unrelenting,
Vengeful malice unrepenting.

The birds fade onto the pond while we watch.
 It is winter.

it's winter even in Florida right now. this to shall pass. i like that first spooky foggy photo. i enlarged but still can't tell if it is a hump in the ground or a tree that turned over in the water. it's cool what ever it is
send us some of your rain, we are really still in our drought

Sandra, it is a 'hump' - is that a botanical name?
I imagine rain will hit you by this time next week - or when you are hit by hurricane season next summer... sigh.

I hope you survive the rain and the pictures are gorgeous! Happy Winter!

We had two days of rain and then an inch plus of snow. Stumpy does like the snow, for about 2 minutes!

I love the mist and fog! It makes things look and feel so surreal!

Nice Photos! That first one is VERY weird, in a good way.

Snow in Phoenix??? Is that legal?

PA says you're sending me visitor comments--I'm not receiving them . . . Thought you had bailed out.

Beautiful first shot!
It's not freezing yet here but very very close... scary for our backyard's vegetation!

Banjo, yes, am commenting my usual boisterous/wordy self. None of my comments have made it through for a couple weeks. Thought your 'approval' process did not include mine. What do you think is up?

It's about time you joined in the fun. If it rains tomorrow as promised, we'll definitely have snow.
