Roads

"The everyday kindness
of the back roads
more than makes up
for the acts of greed in the headlines. "
-Charles Kuralt

"We are all treading the vanishing road of a song in the air, the vanishing road of the spring flowers and the winter snows, the vanishing roads of the winds and the streams, the vanishing road of beloved faces. "
Richard Le Gallienne

“The roads of life are strewn with the wreckage of
run-down and half-finished loves.”
-Ralph W. Sockman

 “Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference”
-Robert Frost

wonderful photos and words. i really like the brick road, brings back memories or visitng my grandmother, all the streets in Palmetto florida were made of brick. i knew we were close to her house when the hum of the bricks under daddy's tires starting singing.

Looks like some of the roads around here. The streets downtown in Nacogdoches are paved with red bricks. I'm hoping to get down there early some Sunday morning before other arrive to get a shot.
I particularly like the photo of the bridge!

Such different roads but we all are on the same planet...

You know this is a favorite theme of mine.

Nice bridge! The brick road photo is great, but I'm not sure I want to drive the road. Sure don't want to bike it!

We are planning our annual spring trip to CA from CO and are thinking Route 50 - like one of the back roads you feature!

I love pictures of old roads and country lanes. They always fill me with questions...
