I threw a ball into the air.
It landed, but I know not where.
(Toby has a better idea than I do...)
WHOOPS!
"The wind came up and blew around,
Would it please blew our tennis ball down?"
(waiting... waiting... waiting...)
"We heard a roll, a tremble of the roof,
He posed to jump, his paws aloof.
"He reached up skyward with strength and might
He'd claim this ball with brawn and fight!"
"He leaped, he leaped, he leaped very high!
And the ball rolled down, as if dropping from the sky".
CAUGHT!
"The wait was over, the ball returned to his glove,
The victory lap began, his eyes brimming with love."
And all is good once again.

Dogs are just the best. Sometimes as simple as a ball rolling off of a roof just makes their day.
Puppy thinking:) On my carpool days, I take a laser light with this Shepard dog and it waits for me to shoot this light around the house or outside. My friend just lost of dog last night and she's going through a rough spell right now. Animals, like our 5 cats, make wonderful companions and I can't imagine our home without them.
Lasers are the best toys for those dogs/cats who like them. Entertainment galore! So sorry about your friend, our sympathy is offered.
Atta boy to Toby the ball catcher, but how is his beautiful kennel-mate gonna handle this. Looks like SHE wanted to win very much!
Kisses,
Stella
Are roof is full of those things! Mom throws like a girl!
Sam
Beautiful beautiful dogs and how fun to watch your pics and read you prose!
Toby has the last word with his ear still in motion and in the wait of the next game to come.
Isn't that the curse of being a girl? Sam, just bear with mom...
Loved your little poem. They're happy again.
Good times!
Well done, Toby, and well done, Brenda. Lovely story!
great story great shots. our balls come right back down fast as they hit on the roof because we have shingles not tiles.
Oh your precious furkids! So full of energy and love. They are wonderful.
And he loved life, he loved it all
So long as he could catch the ball.
Your poem is a perfect description of the photos. Nicely done, on both fronts! Congratutaltions, Toby! Great catch!
