Sites along the ponds

I will gladly take hints as to the species of the birds!
I know the heron (bottom of page), but can only guess at the rest.
All sited at the Gilbert Riparian Park, January 9, 2012.

I say the top one is a sparrow of some sort. The difference between the varieties is sometimes very minute. Great birdie pics!

Thanks for answering my question last time. The color and sharpness continue to see much, much better to me.

I'm guessing at Arizona versions of, from top to bottom, red wing blackbird or male oriole, Eastern Phoebe, and female oriole. I hope someone who actually knows this stuff will correct me.

You got me to hunting, Banjo and Kathy. I opt for #1 to be a Immature male Red wing blackbird. Found a similar one here:

Back to the hunt. Thank you, all!!!

Sounds like someone needs a bird book to study!

A Field Guide to the Birds West of the Rockies is waiting for you!

Cheers and hugs,

Jo

I'm not expert, but...
I'm pretty sure the first one is a Starling, the second one for sure is a sparrow, then I'm lost until the heron.
Whatever they are, nice pics!
