Good eye! That quail thinks he IS somebody. With both birds I'm reminded that following the critters more closely the last few years has made more aware of how attractive brown and grey can be--not to mention camouflage! How do the bright ones avoid predators? Is that why there are fewer bright ones?
As much as I love the quail, they can be pains to us horse folks. Everytime I flip a bale of hay there are eggs in there. I hate to disturb them, but I need to use the hay!

I love seeing antelope squirrels in the desert - but I've never captured a photo as good as yours. And that quail is gorgeous!
