Fogged in my mind

FOG
(Carl Sandburg)
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

I always associate Carl Sandburg's poem "Fog" with San Francisco.
Do you?

The very top photo is Smoky, one of my sweetest dogs, standing at the top of Mount Diablo, looking towards San Francisco. It was the only time we saw sunlight all day. We left the mount and drove through dense fog, right into the heart of San Francisco.

Even Morro Bay was fogged in.
We drove till we found sunshine again.

I can always breathe in sunlight.

'I can always breathe in sunlight' - sublime line, Brenda!
It's on my top 10 now with 'nobody, not even the rain has such small hands'.

I went to SF last March (combo with business trip to Travis AFB), and had same foggy views of the bridge. I think I'll dig some of those up and put them on THE Other blog. I actually think of SF as a big weather combo - brilliant sunshine over the white city, and stormy, and foggy, but always cool.
Nice shot of the Morro Rock - what a bizzare formation that is. I 1st saw it on a trip up the coast with my dad in 1975. I loved that trip.

I was gonna ask about the 1st pic - That's so cool to be able to get up above the cloud cover - We can't do that here, no mnts tall enough

That top picture is so damned sweet. I love it when dogs contemplate their surroundings.

I love ee, especially that poem. Heard it in two readings - once by Anthony Zerbe, the actor - and once by Ron Perlman, in his 'Beauty and the Beast' image (he was the beast).

Thanks, all, for your comments!

I like all these shots a lot, but especially the first, which I've take the liberty to title "Dog and Fog."

Remember Wallace Stevens' "Anecdote of the Jar" (at Banjo a while back)? Consider instead, "I placed a dog upon a hill." Could several of Stevens' lines be about your dog in this photo?

Mostly I'm just messing around, but you've got to admit, the whole picture revolves around him. Without him as center, it would be a far less interesting photo.
