A dog

"The way the dog trots out the front door
every morning
without a hat or an umbrella,
without any money
or the keys to her dog house
never fails to fill the saucer of my heart
with milky admiration.
.."
First verse from Dharma by Billy Collins

"... If only she were not so eager
for a rub behind the ears,
so acrobatic in her welcomes,
if only I were not her god."

That is awesome. We wouldn't have it any other way...
MeMaw was so amazed at how Mom always had 3 shadows where ever she went on the farm.. Dogs are amazing...

What a great poem. We had to put our 16 year old Cocker down on Friday. Dogs are truly special and wonderful friends.

Sometimes it's tough to live up to my dog's expectations. I know she makes me a better person!

I recall back in days of yore when there was NO leash law, and dogs moseyed all over the town. My little Boston Terrier, Stubby, used to go out in the AM, loved to hunt for my Dad (who was a plumber)
then would come home for lunch, take a nap and go play wherever I was going. The days were packed!

I'd be the first to say the leash law is a good thing, just not for dogs!

Cheers,
Jo

I love my boys so much and am touched by their uber excited welcomes when I arrive home. I know you are supposed to wait til they are calm to give them atention but I am equally as excited to see them!

I remember liking that poem when I saw it in his book (which one?). It sure hits a lot of what's good about dogs.

The expressive face of your dog along with the enthusiasm make for a great post!

Great pics. And you are right, boxers are wonderful with children. I'm even thinking about getting one to accompany me on some of those not so nice places I go to take pictures. Only the well-informed know about their gentleness.
