Take the long way home

Some times, the best part of a trip is the long way home.

Just sit back, soak in the scenery, and take the long way home.

Your life? Doesn't compare to anything on the long way home.

I love this long way home.

Colors are amazing here. Can you tell us where this is, like on a map?

The longer the way, the longer you can enjoy the beauty outside.

You take the best pictures, Brenda. I see things in your photos that I would never even believe exist here, in Arizona.

Thanks for the earworm!

Brenda!!! Those pics are wonderful! I remember that rock from childhood in 8th grade a long time ago....the first pic. We were heading on doing a rafting trip on the San Pedro River around the 4 corners.....is that where this is around? I don't know, but you have me excited for Spring break:)

so glad you shared your long way home with us, beauty surrounds you and now us. love that road scene. i am wondering how much gas money you spent taking The Long Way Home. i say this because we USED to do a lot of driving around on weekends exploring places in our county, due to the gas hike we no longer do that.

Absolutely gorgeous! The things we miss when we take shortcuts.

You just might miss the interesting things if you don't take the backroads. My friend and I do it often and we have come across breathtaking scenery and unusual finds.

Following Blue Highways is always best - the long way home. Your photos have such depth - beautifully shot.

These are beautiful shots--the long way home is so much more soothing than the quickest way. We like to take the backroads whenever we can.

wow - well it certainly is when you have views like that...

Glad to see someone (Barb) still using the phrase "blue highways," which author William Least Heat Moon made famous in the 80s--or so I thought. And with or without that label, it's nice to hear other people enjoying the long way, which is almost always richer in sights. I hope there is never a VIRTUAL Rt. 66 or Highway 50 or National Road. Every time I use an interstate or freeway, I go to 19 confessions. That's a lie, but I should.

P.S. That final shot is fantastic. And thanks for tip on Church Rock.
