Last month I was at a loss at how to celebrate a birthday. The birthday was Laura's, she is a fellow blogger - does fellow have a feminine form? Anyway, I told Laura we hoped to have tomatoes by Thanksgiving.

The tomatoes keep developing!

And it looks like we will at least have one for Thanksgiving salad!

I've never grown winter tomatoes before. I will remember for years to come - Laura's birthday is the best day to plant them...

Ah, I was going to plant tomatoes this year... and then... I just had a million excused why I didn't have the time. Now I really wish I had-- I love home-grown veggies.
Ok, no way can I grow these now. But I do have garlic, lettuce, and beans popping up. My kale is still hiding.
they look lovely, so glad you will enjoy them soon. :)
What a wonderful way to remember someone's birthday! I meant to try some winter vegetables but... oh heaven, I'm even too lazy to make an *excuse* about it LOL. Maybe next year! Yours look beautiful.
Maybe you should all come for Thanksgiving dinner! Karin, how hard is it to grow garlic???
You can bet I will never plant tomatoes again (even in springtime) without wondering who is having a birthday.
Thank you all for your comments.
Great shots. I hope that another one or two ripen before next week.
Your tomatoes are doing well, we can only grow them in summmer time.
