Lost in the grass

While walking the dogs yesterday,
 I came across this guy.

A cockatiel.

He was in the company of several doves.
They were all content to peck at the grass,
ignoring the dogs and me.
Surely someone's lost pet?
I wonder if he knows he is lost.
I think he thought he was a dove.

He must realize he is better looking than the other birds! Maybe thats why he stays!

What a beautiful find:) Has this guy decided to begin a new colony like his Peach Faced Lovebird relatives?:) That is so bizarre.....but kinda cool:)

He's having quite an adventure. I hope he finds his way home.

I think this guy somehow got out into the wild and adapted! good for him. We have several huge flocks of wild parrots out here in SoCal. They call them feral parrots!

Such a happy face! Perhaps he has simply been adopted by his doves fellows!

Aw - he must have taken a liking to one of the doves and so joined their little dove club. Hope he survives ok out in the wild! Probably was someone's pet!

That would be quite the surprise to see hanging out with the doves!

I saw one on a small cactus when it's fruits came out some months ago. Sad but they seem to adapt to the wild okay.

How amazing. Much better life than one in a cage, that's for sure.

Is there an internet spot you could post a notice? I think we once discussed wild parrots, which seem to do OK after escape.
